While with the City of Grosse Pointe, Mr. Bendzinski received national recognition for his accounting efforts when, in 1967, the City's financial report for the period ending June 30, 1967 was awarded the Municipal Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada "Certificate of Conformance for substantial conformance to the rules promulgated by the National Committee on Government Accounting." Mr. Bendzinski is one of the few recipients who has received this certificate on the first attempt.
In 1968 Mr. Bendzinski was appointed by then State Treasurer, Allison Green, to serve on a Blue Ribbon Committee to develop a uniform accounting system for Michigan municipalities in accordance with the provisions of Act 2, Public Acts of Michigan, 1968, as amended. Mr. Bendzinski continues to serve on the Committee on Governmental Accounting, Auditing and Reporting Standards which is a continuation of the original Act 2 committee.
